I know what you're thinking... another Diner Dash game?
After playing this game for just short of an hour, I bought it because of all the new options available in this version of one of my favorite time management games. If you're already familiar with the way the Diner Dash games work, you'll feel comfortable with the way this game operates.
I'm impressed with the improvements made to the way the game works technically though. It seems to run a lot smoother than the others. The graphics are sharper, and the movement is much smoother as well.
There are a few really cool options in this game that are nothing like the other Diner Dash games, and I've included screen shots of all the ones I've found so far.
***WARNING***
The following information and screenshots could be considered *spoilers*. If you want to discover all the cool things about this game yourself, stop reading this post now.
***WARNING***
Flo's Closet
Yes, I know... Restaurant Rescue had a closet, where you could change Flo's outfits, as more became available with your progress throughout the game. In this version of the game though, you have a lot more flexibility as far as color and styles. Also new to this version, a "shuffle" button in the closet that will display random outfits in random colors for you! This was a neat feature to play with.
(See the "closet" attachment below.)
Flower Vase
Surprisingly enough, we get an easy way to improve the mood of our customers right from the first level of the game! There are now flower vases that you can put on the tables before seating your customers, and doing so gives them a decent mood boost! Just like everything else, Flo can carry two vases at a time, too.
(See the "flowers" attachment below.)
Food Upgrades
As you progress, you are given the typical "environment" upgrades, such as new counter tops, landscaping, tables, etc. This isn't new, but I must say that the quality of the upgrades in this version are far more attractive than in earlier Diner Dash games. NEW to this version however, is the food upgrade. You get to change the food you're serving to your customers!
(See the "food" attachment below.)
Reservations
Here is where this version becomes a bit more challenging than prior versions. Some customers have made reservations! They expect to be seated immediately upon their arrival, and will only sit at the table designated as "Reserved". The reserved table is obvious due to the place card stand next to it, which displays a timer that shows you how long you have use of the table for other customers before your reservation customers show up.
(See the "reservations" attachment below.)
Tables
This is cool! We now have the choice of pushing two tables together to accomidate larger groups of customers! If you don't have a four seat table available, push two 2 seat tables together. This is actually made very easy to do, and adds an interesting need for strategy to the game that was lacking before.
(See the "tables" attachment below.)
Competitive Waitressing
This is a completely new twist that really got my competitive side pumped up! You are given the opportunity to hire a waiter to help you with the crowds, which is great! They seat customers, take their orders, serve them and keep them happy by bringing them drinks... but they are also competing with YOU for the tips and chaining bonuses! This really adds something to the game that I didn't expect, but really enjoy. This isn't offered on every level after it happens the first time, so don't worry about constantly having to deal with this.
(See the "waiter-compete" attachment below.)
As I said earlier, I've only played this one for an hour, and I got stuck on the last level of the first restaurant... so I'm not sure what other surprises await you as you go through this game.
I am looking forward to discovering more, though, and encourage you to try it out for yourselves! Remember, you get to play the one hour trial for free!
